Let the Adventures begin!

I am sitting in the our hotel room now, waiting patiently for tomorrow-aka move-in day.  It should be exciting.    Today has been fairly exciting driving around Chicago, getting lost with the help of the Garmin, eating at Ed Debevic's, and wandering around Chicago for a while.   Anywho, it will be an interesting three months living here and I am excited for all the things to learn.  Tonight in itself was an interesting an experience just trying to get around. After living for 22 years being able to walk anywhere or drive around for no more than 20 minutes and find what I am looking for, it was challenging to not have the same luxury here.  However, the exciting thing will be all the opportunities that are available to go and experience new things.

Peace to you all!

New Adventures in a new city

So as most of you know, I am heading off to Chicago semester to do my Social Work Placement.  I am pretty pumped about this opportunity especially since I get to work with a fantastic organization called InterFaith Youth Core (http://ifyc.org/).    I am not sure what I will be doing when I get there but it sounds like some of my work will revolve around immigration and faith.  However,  right now I don't really care about the type of work I am doing, I am more excited about working with IFYC.

In the middle of all the excitment, there is a lot of nervousness as well.  I leave on Sunday and my living room is still covered in all the stuff from my dorm room as I try to figure out why must go to Chicago and what does not need to go, which is quite the stressful project.  It is also anxiety provoking to think about being in a new city that is significantly bigger than any place I have ever lived and the need for new habits that will present.

However, right now it is mostly just excitment for something new.  New adventures. New experiences. New life lessons.  New friends.  New possiblities.  My hope is to share some of that newness with all of you and continue to hear about all the great adventures happening in your lives!

I should note that the title of this blog is dcTalk song called Luv is a Verb.  You can
